Shane's Math Profile
Hi, my name is Ann Shane but you can call me Shane.
I take grade 8 math. If someone asked me "Do you like math?",
I would say that I liked it so much. I'm not really the strongest
student in math but I enjoy trying to figure out the answers to
problems and learning new strategies in math. One of the best
things that I've ever done in a math class was doing strategies and technics.
Im kind of new here in Sargent Park but I really enjoy studying

cause im new soo yeah! I will try my best to make my post better.
John's Math Profile
Hi my name is John. I am a math student in grade 8. My favorite subject is Math. I may not the smartest student in 8-14 but I'm the 5th hardworking student in class especially in math cause i love to use the numbers in many different ways to solve problems or questions.
In Grade 6 I really like the word problems. I remember one time the answer for the question is in the question itself. This year ill try my best to past the grade 8 Math.
Now in Grade 8. Ill try to finish all the homework and school work even if it is hard to past and advance to Grade 9.

Ysabelle's Math Profile
Hi, my name is Ysabelle. I am a Math student in grade 8. If you're gonna ask me if I like Math, I would answer- yes, a little bit. I love Math because it helps me a lot, in many ways. I'm not very good at it but I really love solving Math problems. It develops my skills and I think makes my mind sharper. The best thing I ever did in math class was when we factored polynomials when I was in first year high school(it's like grade 7 here in Canada). Factoring polynomials, for me was really fun.
In grade 7, the best unit I studied was the unit on Cartesian Planes. I still remember how to find slopes then graph them. I really liked this unit because I really had so much fun graphing and solving problems involving slopes. I really did well in this unit because it really was pretty easy. The unit that made me struggle was the unit on special products and binomial expansion. I really got confused in this unit. I had a very hard time expanding binomials. It will really take a lot of time for me to expand binomials. I really hate to expand binomials especially when they're in the seventh power or more. I also had a hard time in special products because I got confused in many things. Too many to mention. I will study very well this year so I don't have to struggle anymore.
This year,in grade 8, I will study very well and developed my Math skills to be a successful math student. I will also do my homework. I will be a responsible student and do the things I have to do. I want to learn more about Algebra this year.

Ivory's Math Profile
My name is Ivory and I am in grade 8 math. I like math because it is subject that doesn't use a lot of words and spelling and I personally love numbers. The best thing that I did in math was getting full marks on a test I didn't even study for.
Last year in grade 7, I liked probability and B.E.D.M.A.S. I also found that the coordinate grid was really easy as well. I would do really well on everything unless I didn't listen very well and that was mostly in the third term when I broke my leg.
This year I will work to listen harder and accually study for tests. I need to do better on the blog with comments and do a scribe post. I also need to do all my homework and stay organized.

Angelo's Math Profile
Hi, my name is Angelo and I have grade eight math. I like math because it's my best subject. The best thing that I ever did in math class is playing a game like spinning a spinner to find the experimental probability.
Last year when I was a grade seven, the best unit I studied is integers because it's easy and I did good on quiz and test. The unit that made me struggle is fractions because I get sometimes confused on changing it to a mix number or to improper fraction.
To not struggle much, I need to not talk muchI want to be a better math student. To do this I think I need to be a more responsible by asking questions to my classmates or teacher if I don't understand something. Also I need to pay more attention to what the teacher says and not to talk much about non related to the subject.
This year I would like to learn about algebra. In grade seven I learn how to create a blog. My favorite blog is about the best measure of central tendency. I picked this because I have a video and picture. I also picked this cause I think it's my best blog last year. The blogging help me become a better student because when I forgot the homework's page I can look at the blog and check it. This year I like to play a math game or a math problem in a computer because it helps me alot when I'm doing extra work.

Hi, My name is Arun Klassen and im in grade 8. If someone asked me if I liked math, then I would say yes because you learn fun things like fractions, decimals, and ratios, but sometimes i find math chalenging.
Last year in grade 7 we learned lots about fractions. One of my favourite things we learned was B.E.D.M.A.S which stands for (Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition, and Subtracttion) which helped me in doing certain equations.
This year in grade 8 one of the things i will do to become a more succecfull student is finish my homework on time and hand it in. I am looking forward to learning more strategies to help me complete math equations.
I did a few blogs last year and i thought that they were pretty good. This year i am looking forward to making more blogs. I also look forward to the comments that I get so i can understand how to improve.

Kayla's Math Profile
Hi, my name is Kayla and I am a student in grade 8. I think if someone asked me if I liked math, I'd say "only when I get it right or figure something out that i didn't know before." It's not really that I don't like math, I do, but sometimes when I'm learning new things, I don't really have a lot of patience, so I end up not liking math all the time. I still like parts of math, though. I always liked playing with numbers, and I like adding and multiplying. I always hated subtracting. In grade 3 and 4 I really liked adding because it didn't take really long and it was really simple. Subtraction on the other hand, you could say, was not my strong point. I really didn't like it because it took so long and confused me. I still dont like it to this day. To be honest, I don't really know the best thing I've done in math class. I know that I always feel great if I do good on a test, or if I figure a question out that nobody else has, but I just dont know what the best thing may be.
Last year in grade 7, the unit that I am most comfortable with would be grid work. I always liked finding coordinates. I think I liked this unit so much was because there was just something about finding coordinates that made me feel really content (i know, that sounds really stupid, but it's true). Maybe part of it was because sometimes last year there would be some grids that had the coordinates that made simple designs or pictures that made me happy. I guess you could say that I get easily distracted and I'm narrow minded. There was one time last year, where I got lost, and I didn't understand at all what was going on. It was pretty embarassing knowing that everybody knew it and I didn't. I don't like being left behind. But it wasn't entirely my fault. I was sick. Sort of. i think this year, if I really want to get better, all I have to do is pay more attention. I think it's that simple.
This year in grade 8, I dont know exactly what we will be doing, but I hope that this year we learn something about algebra. Why, you ask? I don't really know. It just seemed like a fun way of doing math. I'm pretty weak willed, and when I decide to do something, I just end up not doing it. I don't think I have enough conviction. It's not really that I dont want to do it, I just don't end up doing it. This year I'm going to have to work harder than before if I'm going to be serious about this. I'll try.
Last year I did some blogs, and I found this one at random, but I really liked this blog, even if I did screw some of it up. Sorry before hand.

(copy this to find my super-awesome blog did last year. Sorry about the link, I couldn't do it properly. Sorry for the inconvenience)
I liked making posts where people would give me lots of positive feedback and would point out my errors so I didn't make them again. this year I hope that I will get the same feedback from my fellow peers. I hope this will be a fun year in math for all of us!
Thank-you.

Ryan's Math Profile .
Hi, my name is Ryan Bautista and I'm in grade 8. I really like math, learning about different types of mathematical stuff such as, Decimals, Fractions, Ratios and Etc. Sometimes i have trouble doing multiplication, like multiplying with decimals.
Back in grade 7, I learned how to do algebra equations and other new stuff. I also learned how to do exponents from the book i had called the Number of the day, we had to convert it to decimals, exponents, ratios, squared, multiplying, dividing, adding, subtracting and also fractions. I also learned B.E.D.M.A.S which stand for (Brackets, Exponents, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction) that is used in many problems i had. Then i learned the 3 M's (Mean, Median , Mode and Range) that talks about finding the number that is meant for the terms. I also had trouble finding the radius, diameter and Now this year in grade 8, I learned alot of different things like during the weeks like, finding the rate, unit rate and unit price. I also learned about ratios and proportional reasoning. We have a pink sheet that helps us remember the definitions of the words i listed. This year i want to focus on studying hard for my test and quizzes and get my homework done for marks. I will also ask the teacher for help if I need help on a problem that I'm having trouble on. I want to learn some things that I'll be learning in grade 9 and learn more about fractions.
Last year my favorite blog was this one : http://room42math09.blogspot.com/2010/02/adding-fractionas.html this is my favorite one because this was my first blog i ever made in grade 7. This year I'm am looking forward to make other great blogs as well as the other blogs and also to make progress in school.

Albert's Math Profile
Hi, my name is Albert and I'm a grade 8 student. If you ask me if I like math then I would say yes because you learn fun things like fractions, decimals and other things but it could be difficult in sometimes.
Back in grade 7 I like the part with the fractions. I have fun learning new things like adding, subtracting, turning it into percent and more. I also remember learning about using b.e.d.m.a.s (which stands for brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, adding and subtracting) which is useful for doing some equations.
This year for grade 8 I will be going to finish all my homework and study for test so I could get to grade 9. In grade 8 I will be going to notice that it will be going to be more difficult so i should work hard.
Last year for blog I didn't exactly did a very good job and so this year I will try to blog more often so it could help other people that are away and it could even help me. This year I will be looking forward on doing some fun and interesting activities that could help me get to grade 9.

Kim's Math Profile
Hi, my name is Kimberly but you can call me Kim. I take grade 8 math. If someone asked me "Do you like math?", I would say that I liked it most of the time. I'm not really the strongest student in math but I enjoy trying to figure out the answers to puzzles and learning new strategies in math. One of the best things that I've ever done in a math class was going on websites that had a lot of fun math games. I liked this event because I really enjoyed playing these games.
Last year in grade 7, I really like the unit on converting fractions into decimals and percents. I liked this unit because I found it very easy the first time we learned it in class. A unit I struggled a little in was creating circle graphs. Something I could do this year to not struggle so much would be to practice the things that I need to improve on more.
It is grade 8 now. This year I will try not to procrastinate too much and to really try and finish ALL of the work that is assigned to me. I will also try to ask more questions if I don't understand something. I am looking forward to learning some new strategies to solving math problems this year.
I did a couple of blogs last year. Out of all of them, I liked this post the best. I'm proud of this post because it is really neat and easy to understand. I really enjoyed reading the comments that I received for my blogs. It helped me get an idea on how to improve for next time I make a blog. On the computer, this year I would like to be able to play some math games to help me understand the unit more.

Shenna's Math Profile
Hi, my name is Shenna. I am in grade 8 math student. If someone were to ask me if I liked math I would honestly say sort of. It may not be my best and favourite subject but I'm trying hard to understand it and do well on the quizzes. The best thing that I ever did in math class was probably converting fractions into decimals and percent in a quiz. I really liked it because I did really good in it and I enjoyed the feeling of success after all the hard work I did to study hard.
In Grade 7, My favourite unit was fractions. For me it was really easy to understand and I did good in it. The unit I had the most trouble with was equations because there were a lot of steps and it's a bit confusing. This year I think I should pay more attention and ask questions that I don't understand.
In Grade 8 in order to be successful. I should finish all of my homeworks and study harder for quizzes and tests. This year I would like to learn more about the units I had problem last year like equations and algebra. I also would like to learn more about figuring out complex problem solving.
Last year, I did a blog for the exam review. It was about probability and common factors. Blogging helped me become a better student because I get to learned about blogs and as I searched for videos and links for my scribe, I found out new things that I haven't learned before. I would like to play math games to improve my skills this year.

Jieram's Math Profile
Hi, my name is Jieram Ramos and I am a Grade 8 math student. If someone were to ask me if I liked math, I would say yes. I really like solving problems such as fraction, multiplication, decimals and many more. I LOVE MATH! its just that sometimes it confuses me.
Last year in grade 7 I learned about integers, it was really easy and I enjoyed playing with the chips, I also did well on my tests and quizes. Other thing I like about math are Mean, Median, Mode and Range, they are easy to solve. I didn't like the unit that you have to find the diameter and radius using pi I think its called circumference.
This year I am going to focus and study hard for my tests and quizes, get all my homework done. This year I expected to be more challenging so I can study more harder and I want to be successful on this subject.
Last year the blog I did was not very good and I know this year we're going to put more blogging. Blog helped me with my homework it also made me a better student. This year I want to play more about math games like last year.

Trisha's Math Profile
Hello, My name is Trisha Tiopo and I'm a math student in grade 8. If someone asked me if I like math I would say I do but it's not my favourite subject, sometimes I find it boring but I enjoy learning about ratios and word problems. The best thing we did in math class that I like was word problems because I enjoy using different strategies to get the same answer, I also like talking to other people about the problems to see if we got the same answer.
Last year in grade 7, I like the unit about B.E.D.M.A.S. I thought it was easy and I like the math equation with the brackets, exponents, division, multiplication, addition and subtraction. I guess I did well in that unit but I could have done better in my test and quizzes. The unit that made me struggle was finding the area of things because it was confusing with the diameter and circumference and stuff. I think I should read over my notes or
ask help from someone who knows the subject well, so I won't struggle that much.
This year to be a successful student in math, I need to focus and study harder then last year and not to procrastinate when it comes to homework. This year in math I would like to learn more about the area of thing so I could understand it more so I won't struggle when the teacher ask me or it shows up on a test.
My one and only blog I did last year was... click here to see my epic blog (:
Blogging helped me become a better student because It helped me with my homework and it helped me understand what today's lessons was about because I'm too shy to ask questions. This year in math I want to play some math games on the computer because playing games is fun and I can learn better so I won't struggle as much as last year.

Leea's Math Profile
Hi my name is Leea KewalI and i am a math student in grade 8. If anyone were to ask me if I like math I would say yes. Its a subject I like to take since it put me to think and I feel good when I solve a problem. I can remember a time in grade 5 solving long division problems.
This was one of my favourite unit in math since I'm good with my multiplication. Last year in grade 7 I had a diffecult time with percent since . I find it confusing and I hate doing my home work since I didn't enjoy it at all. But this year I'm enjoying do ratio alot since there is lots if chat.
Sandra's Math Profile
If Someone asked me "Do you like math?" I would probably answer "yes, but I am not very good at it". I would love to be good at math, it is so interesting, complex, and you need math in the real world. I definately want to improve on my math skills and to understand math better. The best thing I ever did in math class was in grade's five and six when I was actually starting to understand math better than I ever did before. We learned different strageties so we could actually understand the problem, and my math teacher explained it in a fun and interesting way.
Last year in grade 7, my best unit would have to be probably about factors. I was also good at percentages and area of parallelogram, triangle, circle etc. Why I did well on factors was that it was the only math test where I got a perfect 100% test score, I remember feeling happy for the rest of the day after that. I was good at percentatges because I understood how to convert then and to relate them to fractions and decimals. And the area and measurement because I loved how the math information and numbers fit in so well into the formulas. The units that made me struggle however, were dividing decimals, big "unfriendly" decimal numbers are so hard to work with and I had a difficult time understanding them. I also had a hard time adding or subtracting improper fractions, that I had trouble with, I tried the method of cross multiplying, but the whole strategy was to complicated for me to grasp. But I have to say the unit that was worst for me was probability. I knew about percentages of things and all that, but I had problems with organizing the events in tables and charts, all of that just annoyed me for some reason. What I am planning to do this year to try not to struggle so much in those areas is to seek out more help because I am at school to learn and to improve. Another thing I could do is to study harder, so if I read it for a few times over I might actually get it, or inquire more on the subject and research it.
What I want to do this year to become more succesful in math is to ask more questions, get help if I need it, do more research, and try to learn better by focusing and studying smarter. Another thing is to work on my speed. I tend to take my time too much, so I really need to work on my speed, it will really help with my tests and my final exam. I really want to do much better in math this year, so I will have to put in allot of effort. What I would like to learn this year is maybe trying to link math with science. Science is my favourite subject, and I know math has allot to do with science, in fact, math is science, mathematics is the science of numbers and patterns. Anyway, I would just like to learn more about math period.
The blog post I did last year was on mixed numbers and that was the only post I ever did, the reason for that is because while I was making my post I didn't really knew exactly what I was doing so next to sign in, I clicked create blog instead, little did I know I was supposed to sign in and click on new post, when I realized that I couldn't find what I posted, I created several different replicas of my post and posted them again, and I still could only see them on my personal account. Finally, I talked to Mr. Isfeld and he showed me the correct way of doing it. After that he never picked me again to do the blog, and I think I know why, but I can post properly now. Anyway, back to talking about math, I really enjoyed making that blog post, it was a good learning experience for me and it was fun too, I was quite proud of my post, I added pictures and a couple of video links and I put effort into it. I really enjoyed getting feedback from my peers through their comments. You can see my blog at this link:http://wwwspkgrade7math09-sandra43.blogspot.com/. What I would like to do on the computers in math this year is to create more blog posts, and maybe making pictures and videos and adding them to my blog.
Well, this was my math profile, I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope everyone has a great year in math!
Paulo's Math Profile
Hello, my name is Paulo Lacap and I am a Grade 8 math student. If a person asked me if I like math, I would say yes because I really like and enjoy solving fractions, multiplication, decimals, and many many more. The best thing that I ever did in math class was play with a spinning spinner to find the experimental probability.
Last year when I was grade 7, I REALLY REALLY liked the unit about integers because it was very easy and I did kinda good on the tests and quizes. I really enjoyed using bingo chips to talk about zero pairs. The unit that made me struggle REALLY REALLY bad was the unit about circles because I always get confused about the formulas.
This year to be a very succesful student math student, I will study for all my tests or quizes, ask my teacher for help if i don't know how to do something, and get all my homework done before it is due. This year, I want to learn about the things I will be learning in grade 9 and to learn more about fractions.
In grade 7, my favorite blog was.. CLICK HERE TO VIEW MY FAVORITE BLOG. It may not be very good or perfect, but i will try to make better blogs this year. The blogging helped me become a better student because it kinda helped me with my homeworks, like when i forgot the textbook pages for homework i can just check the blog to see the pages. This year I want to do computer activities such as playing games because it can help me know more about a topic and because it REALLY REALLY makes learning more fun. (:
Jam's Math profile
Hi my name is Jam and I am a math student in grade 8.I am going to ask you if you like math and if your answer is yes I might agree with you, because there is time that confuses me. Formulas are math problems that confuses me a lot.
Last year we studied a lot in math not in Sargent park but in my old school. Mean, median and mode are what i like th most. They are easy for me to solve and I can remember them easily.
I will need to study hard this year because I want to be successful for this subject.
I want to learn about algebra and formula this year. I find them hard for me to solve because you need to solve letters and numbers at the same time.
I only did one blog last year and its about how to be successful on final test that student do. this year we might do more blogging than last year.It is good for the student like me learn more staff that are familiar to us but don't really understand.

Kevin's math profile
Hi my name is Kevin and I am a grade 8 student. If someone was to ask me if I liked math I would reply by saying "I love math!". In math I'm a student who stays atleast at a 85% average or higher and I love to figure out puzzles because I get to do more work, and i get to think more. I remember in grade 6 Mr.Marquardson taught us how to do soduko puzzles. Not many people understood it at first but then I got to do a whole book at my Saturday school. Soduko puzzles are the best because they get to challenge your mind.
Last year in grade 7 I really liked doing fractions. I remember doing fractions multiplied by fractions which was kind of a struggle. Trying to find out how to change a fraction into a decimal confused me the most. Last year I didn't get some of my work done because I got distracted by the people around me. To stay focused I won't sit beside people who will bother me.
This year I am going to focus and not fool around in class so much. I don't wanna get a worse mark then my family (Alvin, David). Later on in the year I'm looking forward to doing algebra. I'm also looking forward to doing hard word equations because they challenge my mind and it would be fun.
Last year I was one of the average bloggers. This was the first post which was teaching us how to blog. I thought it was the best post I did because it was my first one, it included lots of colors but I forgot to put pictures and videos because I didn't find any. Everyone commented on my post and I also left a comment saying thanks and stuff. This year I'm looking forward to doing movies for my blog. I would get Alvin or David to help me or get my friends too. Thank you for reading my math profile I am hoping to do more blogs throughout the year.

Glenesse's Math Profile
Hi there my name is Glenesse and I am a math student in grade 8. If someone were to ask me if i liked math, I would say yes. I think doing math problems are fun but sometimes it can get a little confusing. The best thing I ever did in math class was playing with cards to practice our multiplying, dividing, addition, and subtraction. I liked this event because I had a lot of fun with my friends and yelling out the answers first.
Last year in grade 7 the best unit I studied was probability. I did well on that unit because it seemed easy because its like guessing what's going to happen. The unit I struggled in was on circles. We had to remember a lot of formulas but i memorized most of them when we got more into the unit. This year if I don't understand something I would ask questions and listen more carefully in class.
This year to be a successful student I will do my homework and not procrastinate. I will also study harder on quizzes and test to get a higher mark. This year I would like to learn more about integers because last year it was a little confusing for me. I would also like to learn about things I never learned last year.
I did only one blog last year and it was about practicing one step algebraic equations and solving two step algebraic equations. Blogging made me a better student because I can show people what I learned and teach them when they don't understand something. This year I would like to do projects on the computer like making videos with my friends.
