Raelynn`s Algebra Post

Algebra - Writing mathematical phrases using letters to represent numbers.
eg. x+8=14, n-9=9

Variable - A letter that represents a number in an algebraic equation or expression.
eg. a+13=15
Constant - The integer in an algebraic equation or expression.
eg. 19+n=9
Expression - Pattern - many answers.
eg. 4x
Equation - Only has one answer and has an equal sign: =.
eg. 4x=12

Solving an Algebraic Equation:
- Isolate the variable
- Cancel the constant using zero pair
- Balance- doing it to both sides
- Verify to check


One-Step Equations:





























Solving a Two Step Equation:
- Isolate the variable
- Cancel the constant
- Balance
- Simplify the variable
- Balance
- Verify
