Trisha's Textbook pages (:

Pg. 103 - 105
# 6, 9, 12 and 15

6. Determine the length of the leg for each right triangle.

a)
a2 + b2 = c2
72 + 252 = c2
49 + 625 = c2
674 =c2
The square root of 674cm = c2
25.96 cm = c

b)

T2 - S2 = R2

262 - 242 = R2

676 - 576 =R2
100 = R2

The square root of 100 cm = c2
10cm = R2

9. Tina wants to construct a path along the diagonal of her yard. What length will the path be? Express your answer to the nearest tenth of a meter.

a2 + b2 = c2
62 + 122 = c2

36 + 144 = c2
180 = c2
The square root of 180 = c2
13.41 = c

12. The hypotenuse of the triangle cuts the circle in half. What is the diameter of the circle?

a2 + b2 = c2
72 + 52 = c2
49 + 25 = c2
74 = c2
The square root of 74 = c2
8. 60

15. The coordinate grid shown was drawn centimeter grid paper. What is the length of lime segment AB?

A and B segment looks like a right triangle.

a2 + b2 = c2
22 + 42 = c2
4 + 16 = c2
20 = c2
The square root of 20 = c2
4.47 = c

Special thanks to Anabelle for helping me out (:
Thanks.

  1. Good job, Trisha! I liked all the colours. You're pictures helped a lot, but I didn't understand the way you found the answer to 15 because this part confuses me, "22 + 42 = c2". I don't get how you got that.

  5. Great job Trisha and Anabelle for helping her. I liked that you have the answers for the question with details for some of them. I think one thing that can help is the squared sign (5²) and square root √. Also for some of your pictures you have a capital letter for a label it should always be lower case.

  7. Great post Trisha. I liked the pictures that you added and it is all so neatly organized. I like that you changed the colour of the questions but would have preferred something brighter than brown.

  9. Julibella, I mean 2 x2 = 4 and 4 x 4 = 16. Sorry I forgot to make it lowercase.
