Anabelle's Math Profile

Hello, my name is Anabelle. I take grade 8 math. If I were to be asked if I liked math, I would honestly tell them that I think it's "okay". At times I do find it boring, but I know it's important in life and I somehow manage to get through every class. I do fairly well in math, and enjoy math puzzles, you know, the kind that make a person's head explode after 5 minutes. Fun. I remember back in elementary we used to use unit cubes when learning about volume. Everyone loved playing with them, whether people used it for math related activities, or robots. I for one liked putting them together and poking far away individuals, but aside from that, this fun activity actually made me interested in the unit.

In grade seven I liked the unit on fractions, decimals, and percents. I found it easy, having learned a bit about each in previous grades. The unit I struggled most at was probably the one involving Pi, and the formulas for a square, a rectangle and a circle. Not that I didn't understand most of it, just remembering all the different formulas was a pain, especially for the many quizzes I'd forget we'd have. Oh, the laziness.
This year, I'll be sure to be prepared for all the quizzes, so I wont fail miserably. Oh, and to not finish all of the text book pages last minute.

It is now grade 8. This year I will try to come prepared for every class and to not procrastinate on every assignment given to me. I'll also try to swallow my pride and ask the teacher for help with things I don't understand. I don't particularly know what I want to learn this year. Anything, I guess, just as long as I have fun.

I did a few blogs last year for Mr.Isfeld. Out of all them I liked this one best. I liked this blog, because it was neat and I think the pictures used for the examples were very well done. Considering I drew them on Microsoft paint. Many of my classmates found it quite helpful for studying for the exams. Blogging helped me to be organized and responsible. How to take someones advice and use it to better my work and performance. I look forward to making videos this year. I've heard about this from other students and thought it would definitely be enjoyable.

  2. Awesome profile Annabelle! Your post was amazing, I really enjoyed reading it, I honestly didn't want it to end:) I understand which math puzzles your talking about, and I have experienced my head being on the verge of exploding from thinking so hard about it, and then when you realize what the answer was, you feel like slapping yourself in the face for not comming up with such a simple answer in the first place. I guess those are fun to attempt. When you said in your post that in elementary you were using blocks in math class when lerning about volume, was actually a good learning stragety because children tend to learn better when playing and using objects, especially with math. I understand how remembering some of the formulas for the circles were hard beccause on one of the quizzes I just could not remember this specific formula, and it was always that formula that ruined everything for me, other then that I loved using formulas. I really liked your blog you made last year, great job. Well, I think I wrote way too much, it is so hard to be concise sometimes! Well once again, wonderful post!

  11. Wow. Great job. Your post was very well typed and said a lot about your strengths as a math students. Also, you seem to have a sense of sarcasm. I wonder how you cram it all into your post. It made it... entertaining to read, unless of course, you're the one whose brains are splattered on the floor. Then it would be your responsibility to mop up... literally. Oh, well. Good luck with math this year.. and try not to doodle Hetalia on your notebook, for your own sake.

  13. Anabelle... first of all, I'm sorry if I somehow crushed some part of you or if my comment didn't seem complimenting enough. They WERE compliments, but I guess they don't matter if the person you're complimenting doesn't take them as compliments at all. Apperently you think I'm one of those annoying pessimistic freaks that always seem to ruin your day... I'm only half of that person. The other half seems to have some compassion for people and some remorse sometimes... like right now. Before you start screaming at me saying I've got multi-personality disorder, just know that weird, likable freak is under that pessimistic shell I was when I was commenting yesterday... and all the other times I was being a jerk about your Hetalia fanfiction and Bleach stories. By the way, this freak seems to like you as a good friend. Know that.
And BTW, I love your Rukia icon!
